The short version
Rewind works out an estimate from figures you enter, to help you frame a query to HMRC. It is not tax advice and it is not an HMRC calculation. The reconciliation is free; the claim pack is a flat £39.99. You check the figures, you sign the claim, and HMRC pays you directly — we never handle your money and we will never ask you to sign a form that routes your refund through us.

1. Who we are
Rewind is provided by payereward UK Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number [company number], registered office [registered office address]. Contact [email protected].
By using Rewind or this website you accept these terms.
2. What Rewind is
Rewind reconstructs a UK tax year twice from figures you provide: what you should have owed, and what PAYE actually deducted. It explains the difference, and where the difference favours you it can produce a claim for overpayment relief for you to check, sign and send yourself.
The calculation runs entirely in your browser. See our privacy notice.
3. What Rewind is not
- It is not tax advice. We are not your accountant or your adviser. If your affairs are complicated, take professional advice.
- It is not connected with HMRC. payereward UK Limited is not connected with, endorsed by, approved by or acting on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs.
- It is not an HMRC calculation. HMRC works from its own record. Its figure may differ from ours, and HMRC's is the one that counts.
- It is not a guarantee. We do not promise that you are owed anything. Often the answer is that nothing is owed, and that is a real result.
- It does not file anything. Nothing is sent to HMRC by us. You send your own claim.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for what you send to HMRC. Specifically:
- Check every figure against your own P60, P45, P11D and Personal Tax Account before you rely on it. Check against your documents, not against the website you copied the numbers from.
- Enter figures accurately and completely. A reconciliation built on a wrong or partial figure will be wrong, and we cannot detect that.
- Read anything we generate before you sign it. A claim carries your signature and your declaration, not ours.
- Do not use Rewind in a business to produce work for clients, members or workers without a licence. See section 10.
5. Money
What is free
The reconciliation is free, for every tax year, with no account and no limits.
What we charge for
The claim pack — the overpayment relief letter and the pre-post checklist — costs a flat £39.99. One fee, however many tax years your claim covers. The price is shown before you pay, and payment is taken by Stripe on their own page; your card details never reach us.
We never charge a percentage, a commission or a share of anything HMRC pays you.
Buying the pack unlocks it in the browser you bought it in, and we email you a link that reopens it on any device for 90 days. After 90 days the link stops working. We keep no record of issued links, so if yours is lost or expired, email [email protected] and we will check the payment and issue a new one.
Your refund
If HMRC decides a repayment is due, HMRC pays you, directly. We never receive, hold or handle your repayment. We will never ask you to sign a nomination, assignment or deed that routes your money through us or anyone else — if another company asks you to sign one, that is how a share of your refund gets taken, and you do not need one to claim.
6. Cancelling
When you buy digital content you normally have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
The claim pack is ready the moment you have paid, so before we take any money we ask you to tick a box confirming two things: that you want it supplied straight away, and that you understand you give up the 14-day right by asking for that. Without that tick we cannot take your payment at all — that is deliberate, not an oversight.
If something we generate is faulty — wrong on the figures you entered, or unusable — tell us and we will correct it or refund you. That is your legal right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and nothing here reduces it.
If your payment succeeded but you never got what you paid for — the access link did not arrive, or it does not work — email [email protected]. We will put it right or refund you.
7. Who it covers
Rewind covers England and Northern Ireland only, for tax years from 2016 to 2017 onwards. Scottish and Welsh tax codes are refused rather than estimated, because those rates and bands differ and a wrong figure that looks right is worse than a clear refusal.
National Insurance figures are indicative only. HMRC corrects NI separately and it never forms part of a claim.
Claims for overpayment relief must reach HMRC within four years of the end of the tax year. We show the deadline, but meeting it is your responsibility.
8. Availability
We try to keep the site available but we do not promise it will be. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it. Because Rewind runs on your device, a copy you have saved keeps working whether our site is up or not — though its rate tables will go out of date, and it will tell you when they have.
9. Our liability
We provide Rewind honestly and carefully, but it is a tool that produces an estimate from figures you enter, and you are the one who decides what to send to HMRC.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for tax, interest, penalties or losses arising from figures you entered incorrectly, from a claim you chose to submit, from HMRC's own decisions, or from your use of a copy whose rate tables are out of date.
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected. If you use Rewind for business purposes under a licence, liability is as set out in that licence.
10. Copyright
Rewind, this website and their contents are copyright © 2026 payereward UK Limited, all rights reserved. You may use Rewind for your own tax affairs and pass an unmodified copy to another individual free of charge. Selling it, using it in a business to produce work for clients, members or workers, embedding it in another product, or hosting it under your own branding all require a written licence.
Full terms are in the LICENSE file supplied with the software. Licensing enquiries: [email protected].
11. Complaints
Email [email protected] with what went wrong and we will reply within five working days. We would rather hear about a problem than have you discover it in a letter from HMRC.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one on this page when you use the service, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer you may bring proceedings in the courts of the UK nation where you live; otherwise the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
